1st EMUNI Research Souk

emuni_res_logo.jpg EMUNI University is pleased to announce the 1st EMUNI Research Souk (Euro-Mediterranean Student Research Multi-conference). Res Souk is a student research »market« which will be held simultaneously at more locations and where students will showcase and discuss their work in the field of research of topics in relation to Euro-Mediterranean issues. Cooperation in the project has been confirmed by 17 higher educational and research institutions that come from 14 countries.

We are especially proud that also international organisations, such as UN Alliance of Civilizations, Euro-Mediterranean Foundation Anna Lindh and European Training Foundation have agreed to cooperate as partners of EMUNI in the organisation of this event.

The topic of this year’s conference is: Unity and Diversity of Euro-Mediterranean Identities.

The conference will be held at different locations and through linking different EMUNI sites. At the introductory opening that will take place in Slovenia, the invited speakers will present their view of Unity and Diversity of Euro-Mediterranean Identities. The initial addresses will be followed by EMUNI Forum with contributions of the experts who are active in the field of Euro-Mediterranean environment. This part will be live broadcasted at and from all 17 participating higher-educational institutions. The opening part will be followed by the institutional Opening and Institutional Forum, followed by Student Sections - presentations of student research papers and projects.

The main purpose of the conference is to enable researchers to present their research also outside their home institution and to introduce the young minds' creative ideas and knowledge in the field of Euro-Mediterranean research to the broader public. The Mediterranean Region is a multicultural environment, bringing together a variety of peoples, ideas and knowledge and the event can contribute significantly by gaining a broader view of the identity of their societies and cultures within a long historical process of interaction with others.

Participants will be able to present contributions related to topic of this year conference such as: multiple identities in Euro-Mediterranean region, identity as a product of interactions with others, shared and different values, cultural unity, bridging the gap between cultures, intercultural education and its contribution to the cultural unity and university-enterprise dialogue.

The conference is free of charge. Apart of the opportunity for participants to discuss and present their work and receive immediate feedback from other students and professors, the event also provides valuable networking opportunities.

EMUNI Research Souk intends to become an annual conference, organised at different EMUNI co-founding institutions. The conference aims at supporting cooperation between universities, promote diversity and equal opportunity in the field of education and research and contribute to intercultural dialogue through mobility of professors and students, which is in accordance with the mission of EMUNI University.

The contributions shall be presented in English or French language. Participants will be able to present their contributions in one of the languages of the Union for the Mediterranean. All participants will receive the Certificate of Attendance.

Papers or project presentations will be published in conference proceedings. Best papers will be published in the International Journal of Euro-Mediterranean Studies or other relevant journals.
