Alessio Lachi is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (RTT) in Medical Statistics (SSD MEDS-24/A) at the Department of Life Sciences, Health and Health Professions at Link Campus University in Rome.

He attained a PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics and a Master’s Degree in Statistics with honors at the University of Florence, during which time he was also a Visiting Research Fellow at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Previously, he held the position of Junior Assistant Professor (RTD A) at Saint Camillus International University in Rome, Associate Researcher (RTD Level III) at the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the CNR in Pisa, and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Florence. In 2025, he was awarded the National Academic Qualification (ASN) for the position of Associate Professor in competition sector 06-MEDS-24.

His main research interests lie in methodological and applied biostatistics, epidemiological modelling and the quantification of uncertainty (Global Sensitivity Analysis – GSA), using both Bayesian and frequentist inferential approaches. His research focuses in particular on assessing the impact of environmental and behavioural risk factors (such as smoking, gambling and air quality) on public health and population dynamics.

He is an active member of the international network of collaborators of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD), the Italian Society of Medical Statistics and Clinical Epidemiology (SISMEC), the Italian Statistical Society (SIS) and the Italian Association of Epidemiology (AIE). He has extensive teaching experience in degree programmes in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Healthcare Professions and PhD programmes, and authored several scientific publications in indexed international journals.
