Andrea Bosso is a fixed-term tenure-track researcher (RTT) – SSD BIOS-07/A (Biochemistry) in the Department of Life Sciences, Health, and Health Professions at Link Campus University.
Biographical and Scientific Profile
Andrea Bosso attained a Master’s Degree in Biology (110/110 with honors) and a Ph.D. in Biology with the distinction of “Doctor Europaeus” at the University of Naples Federico II. In 2026, he attained the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) to serve as an Associate Professor in the BIOS-07/A (General Biochemistry) competitive sector.
After several postdoctoral research positions and periods of stay abroad — including a period as a visiting Ph.D. student at Utrecht University (Netherlands) — and a role as an RTD-A at Federico II, he has been an RTT Researcher in the Department of Life Sciences, Health, and Health Professions at Link Campus University since 2026.
Research Lines
Dr. Bosso’s research focuses primarily on:
- Bioactive and Host Defense Peptides (HDPs): identification, recombinant production, and structural and functional characterization of cryptic peptides with antimicrobial, antibiofilm, antiviral, and immunomodulatory activities.
- Strategies Against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): development of innovative molecules and peptidomimetics to combat bacterial infections and biofilm formation.
- Protein Biochemistry and Data-Driven Formulations: characterization of enzymes, cellular stress factors, and biomolecules of industrial and biomedical interest.
Assignments, Teaching, and Awards
In the academic and scientific fields, Dr. Bosso has led and participated in various national and university-level research projects, including FRA and PNRR. He has taught courses in Industrial Biochemistry and Elements of Chemistry, and has served as coordinator of the department’s facility for the production of recombinant proteins.
In 2023, he was awarded the “Umberto Pierantoni” Prize by the National Society of Sciences, Letters, and Arts in Naples. He is a member of the Italian Society of Biochemistry (SIB) and is actively involved in publishing as a guest editor and peer reviewer for international journals in the field.
OFFICE HOURS
The professor is available to receive the students at the end of the lessons. However, the students may also request an appointment by email.
