Elena Alexandrova is an Associate Professor of General Pathology (SSD MEDS-02/A) at Link Campus University. She attained a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry in Moscow and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Salerno. During this time, she was awarded research grants by the Umberto Veronesi Foundation.
Her research focuses on characterizing the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that regulate gene expression and are involved in the onset and development of neoplasms, as well as on resistance to drug therapies, through the use of omics technologies and the integration of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic data.
In particular, she studies the mechanisms underlying the development of treatment resistance in female cancers, with a focus on breast cancer and ovarian cancer. In this context, her research is aimed at identifying new molecular targets and therapeutic strategies to overcome treatment resistance.
Her research interests also include the study of alterations in the cellular processes that underpin the growth and progression of glioblastoma, with the aim of identifying tumor vulnerabilities and potential therapeutic targets.
She is the author of numerous publications in international scientific journals and has participated in several national and international research projects.
