Francesco Giannico is a fixed-term researcher (RTT) pursuant to Article 24, Law 240/2010, in the scientific discipline group 07/AGRI-09 – Animal Sciences and Technologies – and the scientific discipline sector AGRI-09/B – Animal Nutrition and Feeding, at Link Campus University.

He graduated with honors in Agricultural Sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Bari, and is licensed to practice as a freelance Agronomist. In 2002, he attained a Ph.D. in Animal Science (13th Cycle). From 31 December 2004, to 22 February 2023, he served as a Technical Officer at the University of Bari, where he was placed on leave of absence; from 23 February 2023, to 22 March 2026, he held the position of fixed-term researcher, pursuant to Article 24, paragraph 3 - letter A) - of Law N. 240, 30 December 2010 – Scientific Disciplinary Sector AGR/18, competion sector 07/G1.

His research has focused on animal nutrition and feeding, as well as the quantitative and qualitative aspects of livestock and aquaculture production. He is an adjunct professor teaching “Animal Nutrition and Feeding” (AGR/18, 4 CFU) at the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Agri-Food and Nutritional Biology at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the University of Salento. From the 2005/2006 to 2011/2012 academic years, he served continuously as a faculty member in the Ph.D. program in “Animal, Aquaculture, and Wildlife Sciences” (SCIZIF) at the University of Bari, teaching the course “Laboratory of Physical, Chemical, Histological, and Bromatological Techniques of Foods and Food Production” (AGR/18, 2 credits/year). From 18 September 2000, to 6 December 2000, as a visiting scientist, he conducted research at the University of Wisconsin, where he collaborated on an experimental study under the guidance of Prof. Louis Armentano. From March 22, 2001, to May 30, 2001, he was also a visiting scientist at the “Department of Animal Science” at the University of California, Davis (USA), under the supervision of Prof. Peter H. Robinson. He has served as a speaker at several national and international conferences and symposia in the field of animal production. He was also an invited speaker for a presentation titled “Breeding of Native Sheep and Goat Genotypes in Lucania for the Preservation of Animal Biodiversity” at the Agricultural University of Tirana, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, Tirana, on October 3, 2019. He regularly serves as a peer reviewer of scientific papers for the MDPI Publishing Group (Animals, Foods). He is a Full Member of the A.S.B.M. (Association of Mediterranean Biodiversity Sciences), the A.S.P.A. (Animal Science and Production Association), and the E.A.A.P. (European Federation of Animal Science).

He attained the National Academic Qualification for the position of Associate Professor in the competitive sector 07/G1 – ANIMAL SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGIES.

He is authored and/or co-authored over 80 scientific papers, published in national and international specialized journals and conference proceedings, with the following SCOPUS bibliometric indices: 46 papers, 519 citations, h-index 14.
