Gennaro Lettieri is currently a researcher at Link University, Department of Life Sciences, Health, and Health Professions. He attained his PhD in Molecular Biology in 2023 at the University of Naples Federico II, Department of Biology. His scientific work is mainly focused on the effects of environmental pollutants (including heavy metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and microplastics) on the human and animal reproductive system, using Mytilus galloprovincialis as a model. His studies focus in particular on basic nuclear proteins in sperm and oxidative damage to DNA, through the study of DNA damage markers such as histone H2AX and its post-translational modifications.

In 2022, he gained international experience as a visiting student at IDIBAPS and Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, furthering his studies on human seminal fluid and sperm cryopreservation methods.
