Laura Lucarini is a Tenure-Track Researcher (RTT) in the BIOS-11/A research area (Pharmacology) within the Department of Life Sciences, Health and Health Professions at Link Campus University.
She attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Florence, a PhD in Clinical Physiopathology and Ageing, and a second PhD in the field of Medicines and Innovative Treatments. Furthermore, she attained a specialization in Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Florence.

Her research activity is mainly focused on the study of histamine receptors in various pathological conditions. In particular, she is investigating the H3R receptor in eye diseases, with a specific focus on glaucoma and retinal ischaemia, and the H4R receptor in pulmonary fibrosis.

She is a member of the Italian Society of Pharmacology (SIF) and the European Histamine Research Society (EHRS).

Throughout her research career, she has taken part in several research projects of national significance, including PRIN projects, projects funded by the Region of Tuscany and the Fondazione CR Firenze, as well as international projects under the H2020-MSCA-RISE and LIFE QUALITY programmes, developing collaborations with universities and companies in the pharmaceutical sector.

Furthermere, she carried out research periods abroad as a visiting fellow at Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia, USA) and as a research associate at the St Boniface Research Centre, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, as well as secondments as an Experienced Researcher in Athens, Greece, and at the University of Minho, Portugal.

She authored more than 60 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals and has taken part in several national and international conferences, presenting the results of her research activity.
