Miriana d'Alessandro is a fixed-term researcher in Advanced Medical and Surgical Technical Sciences (MEDS-26/D) at the Department of Life Sciences, Health, and Health Professions at LINK Campus University. She graduated in Health Biology at the University of Siena and obtained her PhD in Genetics, Oncology, and Clinical Medicine (GenOMeC) from the same university, gaining advanced skills in biomarker analysis, immunology, and the pathogenetic mechanisms of pulmonary interstitial diseases.

She held the position of fixed-term researcher (RTDa) at the University of Siena for the PNRR-CN3-Spoke5-WP5.3 project "isolation and characterization of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) carried by extracellular vesicles for the discovery of therapeutic targets."

She attained the national scientific qualification (ASN) as Associate Professor in Competition Sectors 06/N1 - Health Professions and Applied Medical Technologies (ASN 2023/2025) and S.C. 05/E3 - Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology (ASN 2021/2023).

Her scientific activity focuses on the study of molecular and cellular processes underlying fibrosing lung diseases, with particular attention to extracellular vesicles, multi-omic profiles, and diagnostic-prognostic markers. He participates, as Principal Investigator and/or Co-Principal Investigator, in national and international research projects dedicated to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, and autoimmune interstitial lung diseases.

She authored over 170 indexed scientific articles, with an H-index of 29, she is included in the list of “World's Top 2% Scientists 2024” compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier. She edited two chapters of the book “Bronchoalveolar Lavage in Basic Research and Clinical Medicine.” She is actively involved in the international scientific community as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology and Review Editor for several scientific journals, including Frontiers in Physiology and Frontiers in Pharmacology. She has been invited as a speaker at 18 conferences and has served as moderator/organizer at three events, both national and international.
