Miriana d’Alessandro is a researcher in Advanced Medical and Surgical Technical Sciences (MEDS-26/D) at the Department of Life, Health and Health Professions Sciences of Link Campus University. She obtained a PhD in Genetics, Oncology and Clinical Medicine (GenOMeC) from the University of Siena, developing strong expertise in translational medicine and molecular biomarker research in interstitial lung diseases.
She previously held a junior researcher position at the University of Siena within initiatives funded by the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and has obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for Associate Professor in the fields of 06/N1 – Health Professions and Applied Medical Technologies and 05/E3 – Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology.
Her scientific work has received international recognition, and she has been included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier. She has received several research awards for contributions to improving therapeutic responses and management strategies in rare lung diseases. She has also contributed book chapters to Bronchoalveolar Lavage in Basic Research and Clinical Medicine.
Her research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying fibrosing lung diseases, with particular emphasis on extracellular vesicles, multi-omics approaches, and the identification of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. She is involved as Principal Investigator and/or Co-Principal Investigator in national and international research projects.
She actively contributes to the international scientific community as Associate Editor of Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology and Review Editor for several journals in physiology and pharmacology.
