Professor Stefano Filippo Castiglia is a member of the Department of Life Sciences, Health and Health Professions at Link Campus University, Rome Branch, holding the post of Associate Professor MEDS-26/C.

In 2008 he attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy; e then he went on to attain a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences for the Healthcare Professions in 2015, both with distinction, at Sapienza University of Rome. Since 2008, he has worked as a physiotherapist, primarily with people suffering from movement disorders of neurological origin, at the Policlinico Umberto I, the Neurological Centre of Latium and the Casa di Cura Policlinico Italia in Rome.

From 2020 to 2025, he was a Research Fellow at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences and Biotechnology at Sapienza University of Rome, Pontino Campus. In 2025, he attained a PhD in Biomedical Sciences with distinction, specialising in Neuroscience, at the University of Pavia.

He specializes in neurorehabilitation and in the clinical and instrumental analysis of movement, with a particular focus on Parkinson’s disease, cerebellar ataxias, balance disorders and the after-effects of stroke. His main areas of research and related publications concern the identification of biomechanical parameters characterizing individuals with movement disorders, the identification of instability and the risk of falls, the responsiveness of instrumental measures to rehabilitation treatment, and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to clinical biomechanics.

He has collaborated on research projects with various Italian institutions, including the Movement Analysis Laboratory at the Policlinico Italia, “Sapienza” University of Rome, the IRCCS Casimiro Mondino Foundation in Pavia, INAIL and IIT. He held teaching positions on various Degree Courses in Physiotherapy, as well as on Masters and Advanced Training Courses at “Sapienza” University of Rome and the Universities of Pavia and Genoa, and has served as a trainer for the R.M.P. Association.
He has held elected positions on the Executive Committee of SIAMOC, including that of Secretary, and of SIRN, and is a member of the AIFI Lazio Regional Executive Committee and of the AIFI NIS Digital Technologies Coordination Group.

He has published more than 40 articles in international scientific journals, with a current H-index of 16 (Scopus), and is the author of several book chapters. He has participated at several national and international conferences as lecturer and has contributed to various E.C.M. training courses.
