Mission and Scope
The mission of the Center is to actively support the development of innovative endovascular devices by aligning real clinical needs with technological and engineering solutions. By creating a direct interface between clinical practice, research, and industry, the Center provides a unique environment in which new concepts can be designed, evaluated, refined, and translated into clinical applications.
The Center is specifically conceived as an open and collaborative platform for industry, offering companies the opportunity to leverage advanced clinical expertise, dedicated infrastructures, and specialized testing environments to develop, test, validate, and optimize endovascular devices and technologies, as well as to support them throughout European certification and regulatory approval processes and patent application pathways.
Through close interaction with experienced clinicians and researchers, industrial partners can receive targeted scientific and clinical input throughout the entire development process.
Activities and Objectives
The Center focuses on the development, validation, and implementation of innovative techniques, devices, and therapies aimed at improving the diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of patients with cerebrovascular diseases and a broad range of neurosurgical pathologies that may benefit from endovascular treatment, including chronic subdural hematomas, hydrocephalus, tumors and venous sinus stenosis.
Key objectives include:
- conducting cutting-edge research in minimally invasive and endovascular neurovascular procedures;
- fostering structured collaboration between clinicians, engineers, basic scientists, and industry partners;
- accelerating the translation of scientific and technological innovation into clinical practice;
- providing expert clinical and scientific consultancy to support device development and optimization;
- offering access to advanced testing environments, simulation platforms, and pre-clinical models;
- integrating artificial intelligence solutions into endovascular neurosurgery;
- improving patient safety, therapeutic effectiveness, and long-term neurological outcomes;
- support throughout European certification and regulatory approval processes and patent application pathways.
An Innovation Hub for Industry and Research
The Center functions as a true innovation hub, ideally suited for proof-of-concept development, pre-clinical studies, prototype testing, feasibility assessments, and structured industrial collaborations.
Through dedicated agreements, companies—both start-ups and established industry leaders—can access the laboratory infrastructure and clinical expertise to evaluate new technologies, refine existing devices, and accelerate development pathways. This approach generates a dynamic, multidisciplinary, and sustainable ecosystem in which clinical insight, technological innovation, and industrial development evolve together.
