Associate Professor

Link Campus University - Rome

Prof. Alessandra Maria Vitale is a member of the Department of Life Sciences, Health, and Health Professions at Link Campus University as an associate professor in the scientific-disciplinary sector BIOS-12/A – Human Anatomy.

She attained the master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a Ph.D. in Biomedicine and Neuroscience from the University of Palermo, where she subsequently conducted research and served as a lecturer in human anatomy and biomedicine.

Her scientific activity focuses on the study of the molecular chaperone system and heat shock proteins in human physiology and pathophysiology, with a particular emphasis on neurodegenerative, neuromuscular, inflammatory, and oncological diseases.

In recent years, her research has focused on the study of glioblastoma and on the development and characterization of three-dimensional experimental models derived from patients, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of the biological and molecular mechanisms underpinning tumour progression, identifying new biomarkers and therapeutic targets, and contributing to the development of personalised treatment strategies within the framework of precision medicine.

Furthermore, her scientific interests include the study of extracellular vesicles in intercellular communication mechanisms, with particular reference to their potential diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

She authored several scientific articles published in international journals and has received awards for papers presented at national scientific conferences.

She also serves as a guest editor for several journals and is a member of the Early Career Editorial Board of the journal Applied Biosciences.
