Annalisa Chianese is Associate Professor of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology (S.S.D. MEDS-03/A) at the Department of Life Sciences, Health, and Health Professions at Link Campus University. 

In 2017, she attained a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Naples Federico II, with a grade of 110/110 with honors. 

In 2019, she she attained the license to practice as a biologist and is duly registered with the National Association of Biologists – Section A. 

In 2022, she attained a PhD in Biochemical and Biotechnological Sciences – Microbiology and Physiopathology curriculum at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli.” After completing her PhD, she began the Specialization School in Microbiology and Virology at A.O.U. Vanvitelli.

Since 2023, she has been a research fellow at the Microbiology and Virology Laboratory of the Department of Experimental Medicine at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli,” participating in national and international research projects and collaborating with various academic institutions.

In 2023, she also successfully participated in the training course titled “The BSL3 Biosafety Laboratory,” held in Cagliari, acquiring skills and experience in the cultivation of viruses that are potentially pandemic for human health. 

In 2025, she attained the National Scientific Qualification for the position of Associate Professor in the competitive sector 06/A3 - Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology.

She has been involved in teaching and tutoring since 2019. She is a subject expert for the teaching of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology for the Master's Degree course in Medicine and Surgery (in both English and Italian) and for the Degree course in Pharmacy. She has been a volunteer lecturer in Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology for the Bachelor's Degree Courses in Nursing and for the Bachelor's Degree Course in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli.”

Her research focuses on studying the mechanisms underlying microorganism-host interaction, with a particular focus on finding new therapeutic targets with antiviral action.  

She is a member of the Italian Society of Virology (SIV), the Italian Society of Microbiology (SIM), and the Association of Italian Clinical Microbiologists (AMCLI).

She is the author of numerous publications in international scientific journals and is a Guest Editor and member of the Editorial Board of several journals in the field of virology and microbiology.
