
Marta Sacchetti graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 2001 at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” specialized in Ophthalmology at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2005, and obtained her PhD in Ocular Immunology at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome in 2010.
In 2006, she completed a research fellowship at the Institute of Neurobiology of the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome.
From 2007 to 2012, she carried out clinical and research activities at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, and from 2011 to 2016, she carried out research activities at the Cornea and Ocular Surface Unit of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
From 2011 to 2019, she worked in clinical practice at the Ophthalmology Department of the Fatebenefratelli Villa San Pietro Hospital in Rome.
From 2019 to 2022, she carried out research activity the Department of Sense Organs at Sapienza University of Rome as a research fellow: from 2019 as fixed-term researcher (type A) and, from 2020 to 2022, as fixed-term researcher (type B).
From 2021 to 2022, she was a Level I Medical Director at DAI Testa-Collo, Umberto I University Hospital in Rome.
From 2022 to 2025, she held the position of Head of Clinical Development Ophthalmology-anterior segment, in Research and Development at Dompé Farmaceuitici, SPA, L'Aquila.
Her main areas of interest are diseases of the anterior segment of the eye, particularly degenerative, allergic, and inflammatory diseases of the ocular surface.
She authored 83 publications in international peer-reviewed journals (total impact factor: 280; H index: 33, number of citations: 3294-Scopus), 30 abstracts for national and international conferences, and 8 book chapters.
She was awarded a grant under the 2008 AIFA Call for Independent Drug Research (code FARM8ACX7M) as Principal Investigator and a grant under the 2009 Young Researchers Call (code GR-2009-1595946) as Principal Investigator, she has participated in numerous clinical trials and research projects.
