Sara Sottile

Researcher

Link Campus University - Rome

Sara Sottile is Tenure Track Assistant Professor (RTT) in Medical Statistics (SSD MEDS-24/A) at the Department of Life Sciences, Health and Health Professions at Link Campus University since 26 october 2026. His research lies at the intersection of mathematical modeling, epidemiology, and statistics applied to health, with a particular focus on dynamic systems and dynamics across multiple time scales.

She attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics at the University of Bari and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics at the University of Turin. In 2019, she conducted research at the University of Waterloo in Canada, focusing on epidemic modeling and network dynamics. In January 2023, she earned her Ph.D. in Mathematical Models for Epidemiology at the University of Trento.

She conducted research at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Trento and the Department of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Bologna, focusing on epidemiological modeling, statistical analysis, and data management. Her research activity has spanned various fields of epidemiology, including the analysis and forecasting of COVID-19 and cancer trends, the study of control strategies for vector-borne diseases using mosquitoes carrying the Wolbachia bacterium, and the study of avian influenza. She helped coordinate the INHANCE and IESC3 projects, overseeing quality control, data management, and data analysis.

Furthermore, she collaborated with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart on the FItPreV project and with VIHTALI and Seqirus on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) activities, with a particular focus on the evaluation of new influenza vaccination strategies and the cost-effectiveness analysis of healthcare interventions.

She participated in the COST Action ENOTTA (European Network on Optimizing Treatment with Therapeutic Antibodies in Chronic Inflammatory Diseases). Within this framework, she undertook a Short-Term Scientific Mission in 2024 at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia, focused on mathematical modeling for the optimization of antibody therapies in chronic inflammatory diseases.

She took part as a guest speaker and presenter in more than 20 international conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings in the fields of applied mathematics, dynamical systems, and epidemiology, and helped organize several scientific events.
