Dr. Veronica Folliero is currently a Tenure Track Researcher (RTT) at the Department of Life Sciences, Health, and Health Professions at Link Campus University in Rome, working in the scientific field of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology (MEDS-03/A).
She has a solid academic background, which includes a Specialization with honors in Microbiology and Virology and a PhD in Biochemical and Biotechnological Sciences, with a focus on Microbiology and Physiopathology. She has also attained the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for the position of Associate Professor in the MEDS-03/A sector.
Dr. Folliero's scientific activity is supported by a significant body of work: her SCOPUS bibliometric indices report an H-index of 25, with over 1,800 citations and 86 published works.
Her main lines of research address crucial issues in the field of public health:
- Antimicrobial resistance and therapeutic development: a central focus of her work is identifying innovative solutions to combat antibiotic resistance.
- In this field, she conducts research on drug repurposing, the use of peptides, natural extracts, and synthetic or naturally occurring molecules, as well as the use of metal nanoparticles obtained through green approaches for antimicrobial applications.
- Mechanisms of Viral and Bacterial Pathogenicity: Dr. Folliero investigates the molecular mechanisms that modulate virulence and pathogenicity in important pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 and various multi-resistant bacterial strains.
In addition to her research commitments, Dr. Folliero carries out teaching activity at the university, contributing to the training of healthcare professionals. She has held and continues to hold teaching positions in Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology (MEDS-03/A), including experience in international contexts.
