Dr. Vito Carlo Alberto Caponio is Associate Professor of Dentistry at Link Campus University, with a clinical and academic background in oral pathology, oral medicine, and head and neck oncology. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree cum laude and later completed a PhD in Translational Medicine and Management of Health Systems, with a focus on biomarker discovery and patient stratification in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. His research interests lie at the intersection of oral medicine, pathology, and evidence-based dentistry. With strong expertise in statistics, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence, Dr. Caponio develops translational models aimed at improving early diagnosis and individualized prognosis of oral cancer and other oral diseases. His work is particularly focused on integrating AI-driven approaches with clinical, histopathological, and omics data to identify reliable biomarkers and enhance predictive accuracy in both diagnostic and prognostic contexts.

He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, which have been recognized with multiple national and international awards for research excellence and scientific dissemination. He actively participates in international collaborative research projects. Dr. Caponio is also an active member of the Italian Society of Oral Pathology and Medicine and the European Association of Oral Medicine. In addition to his research, he serves on the editorial boards of multiple international journals in the fields of oncology, dentistry, and translational medicine. Dr. Caponio regularly presents his work at national and international scientific conferences, he has been an invited speaker at conferences in Italy, Spain, Canada, Belgium, and Ecuador, presenting on topics such as the use of AI in oncology, immune response in OSCC, and translational applications of salivary biomarkers. 

He maintains strong connections with academic institutions across Europe and North America and welcomes interdisciplinary collaboration in the areas of oral health, digital pathology, and precision medicine. He is committed to mentoring the next generation of clinician-scientists. He welcomes interdisciplinary collaborations and is open to research partnerships, knowledge exchange, and innovation in the field of oral health.
