Stefania Carioli is associate professor (S.S.D. M-PED/02 – S.C. 11/D1, now S.S.D. PAED-01/B History of Pedagogy and Education – G.S.D. 11/PAED-01) at Link Campus University, with qualification as full professor for competition sector 11/D1 – PEDAGOGY AND HISTORY OF PEDAGOGY S.S.D. M-PED/02 – HISTORY OF PEDAGOGY.

Her main research interests focus on topics related to: literature for children and adolescents and the pedagogy of reading, with a historical, critical-literary, and educational approach and with particular reference to the implications of digital technology; the figure of Gianni Rodari; and the history and current relevance of Maria Montessori's pedagogy.

In 2022, she published "Connessioni", focused on the effects of digital technology on the narrative horizon aimed at preteens and teens and on their way of being readers. Journey through children's and young adult literature in the wake of digital transformation, Milan, Franco Angeli, recognized with the 2024 SIPED Award.

With Cardiff University (UK) as host university, in 2023 she submitted a project on the theme of “Deep aesthetic reading and literature for children and adolescents” in response to the call: HORIZON-MSCA-2023-PF-01. The project obtained a total score of 92.80%. 

Within the framework of the Programme "Talent Italy", she was co-scientific director of the project awarded funding, "Stop and Think. Modeling the Process of Online Reading Comprehension Using Think Aloud" project, in response to the competitive call for proposals MOOC - D.D. 514 of 20/2/2014 - MIUR, Department for Universities, Higher Education, Music and Dance, and Research - Directorate-General for Research Coordination and Development.

She was Visiting Scholar in 2015 at the University of Rhode Island - Providence Feinstein Campus (US) - to study topics related to digital reading and literature for children and adolescents.

She was Visiting Professor in 2022 at Universitat de València Departament de Didàctica de la Llengua i la Literatura.

During her career as a primary school teacher—both in regular and support roles—he has held various positions such as tutor for teachers in their probationary year, functional objective, school representative for participation in school network projects, and teacher trainer.
