Dr Walter Verrusio is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine (SSD MEDS-05/A) at Link Campus University since October 2025.
He attained the National Scientific Qualification (II level) in Internal Medicine in March 2025.
Prof. Verrusio is a specialist in geriatrics and is currently Head of the Complex Medicine Unit at the S. Anna Nursing Home – Policlinico Città di Pomezia (Rome).
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at La Sapienza University in Rome in 2006. At the same university, he specialized with honors in Geriatrics in 2011 and attained a PhD in Geriatric Sciences in 2015.
From 2015 to 2021, he was research fellow at the Geriatrics Unit of the Policlinico Umberto I hospital in Rome.
Between 2021 to 2024, he was type A Researcher (RTDA) at the Department of Internal Medicine, Anaesthesiology and Cardiovascular Sciences, La Sapienza University of Rome.
His research activity is mainly related to the ageing processes and geriatric frailty, with particular regard to the application of advanced physical and cognitive rehabilitation methodologies and the development of innovative tools, including artificial neural networks, an exoskeleton for physical training and the study of the Mozart Effect.
He participated in several research projects as scientific director and co-investigator.
In 2016, he was awarded the title of “Fellow in Geriatrics” by the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics (SIGG) in recognition of his contribution to research in the field of gerontology and geriatrics. He co-authored the entries “anziano” (elderly), “invecchiamento” (ageing) and “fragilità” (frailty) for the Treccani Encyclopaedia – Appendix X.
He holds the position of Vice-President of the Italian Federation of Geriatric Medicine (FIMeG), authored approximately 40 indexed international scientific publications, and is the co-author of chapters in books and monographs in the medical and geriatric fields.

The professor is available to receive the students at the end of the lessons. However, the students may also request an appointment by email.
