Title: Energy MAnagement CONTROL (EMA CONTROL)

Duration: 30 months
Start date: 01/07/2019
Finish date: 31/12/2021

Partnership:

  1. TECNO ACCISE (Coordinator)
  2. Link Campus University

Description: With a view to the continuous improvement and extension of its services, the EMA CONTROL project aims to develop a new technological platform that will make it possible to:

  • Acquiring an increasing amount and type of data from different types of information sources. This will have to be translated into a highly flexible platform;
  • Offer new functions for analysing the collected data, allowing a "dynamic" classification of energy profiles;
  • Recommending services/actions on the basis of the particular situation/class (present or expected in the future) assigned by the system and a knowledge base that gathers company know-how in digital format;
  • Offering new ways of visualising data (from collected and analysed plant data to machine operation and configuration data) and making use of services provided by the platform (e.g. decision support), in order to make such interactions more interactive, effective and comprehensive;
  • Ensuring high levels of data security and privacy and, at the same time, offer complete transparency and traceability of how and when data is collected, analysed and used within the platform. This is also with a view to the development of (energy/environmental) production certification services within industrial plants.

In order to realize the aforementioned objectives, the project will develop appropriate research in the following innovative technologies:

  • Big data, Internet of Things and Lambda architectures;
  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence;
  • Human-Computer Interaction and Augmented reality;
  • Blockchain.

LCU Activity:
Within the project, the Link Campus researchers propose to analyse data from the plant using two different approaches: artificial intelligence, to be understood as Machine Learning or Deep Learning, and dynamic modelling. The two approaches will be used in order to validate each other's outputs (consistency checks) and improve the actual new knowledge extracted, attempting to provide estimates of future consumption with a higher degree of reliability.
The comparison between two techniques, which are equally used in the scientific field, will not only allow a precise prediction, but also a comparison between the two methodologies which will generate a result that can be reported to the relevant scientific community. Similarly, the introduction of Blockchain as a decentralised resource management system will make it possible to validate an innovative technological tool in an industrial application, testing its performance capabilities and applicability in fields other than the financial sector.

  11. GULF OF SIDRA UNIVERSITY (Libia)
  12. SIRTE UNIVERSITY (Libya)
  13. UNIVERSITY OF TRIPOLI (Libya)
  14. UNIVERSITY OF ZAWIA (Libya)

Description:
The aim of the project is to increase the cultural and entrepreneurial contribution of Libyan higher education institutions in the country's economic and social growth process. The aim is to improve their organisational capacities to connect academic research activities to the labour market and civil society, in particular through the implementation of TTOs - Technology Transfer Offices (corresponding to the UTTs present in some Italian universities).In fact, Libyan universities need support both to improve their internal organisation and to strengthen coordination and networking activities in order to increase their international visibility. They play a primary role in promoting national innovation processes as they already possess high academic standards. However, they would be able to stimulate more internal development if only they could sufficiently publicise their research results.
Thus, for the Libyan academic world, TTOs represent a window on the business and labour market, through which research and ideas can be shown to the outside world, creativity can be promoted, social dialogue can be enhanced, and young people can be initiated into the professions.
The project, after an analysis of the social, legal and economic situation in the country, as well as the level and potential of scientific and technological research in universities, focuses on the development of the aforementioned dissemination/promotion system.

LCU Activities:

  • Developing innovative and multidisciplinary abilities in order to promote the activities of the Libyan academic institutions;
  • facilitating the exchange, the flows and the creation of knowledge;
  • stimulating the entrepreneurial spirit and the ability of the university in carrying out innovative actions/activities;
  • creating a national and international network on the themes of the project.

Title: INFERNO

Duration: 1 month and 20 days
Start date: 17/06/2019
Finish date: 06/08/2019

Description:
The project increases the cultural offer of the area through the theatrical performance of Dante's Inferno and other collateral activities aimed at training, awareness and theatre literacy.
The activities take place, in an itinerant and site-specific modality, at the headquarters of Link Campus University, a site of historical-artistic interest, usually isolated in terms of urban planning and artistic offerings. It responds to the need to increase the wellbeing of citizens, spread theatre culture and make the XIII municipality, lacking in spaces for live performances, attractive to audiences (across the board in terms of age and type).
The performance expands the culture of the spectator in terms of rhythm, movement in space, and the interaction between light and sound. The staging is a journey into the collective consciousness of the vices of modern man, leading the spectator into the centre of the action.
A special feature of the project is the creation of the work through a training workshop in acting and dramaturgy (Inferno Lab), open to 11 young actors selected by audition (grant recipients).
It combines theory and practice, in a learning methodology made unique by the synergetic creation of the work. The workshop increases traditional and non-traditional forms of expression (spoken word theatre, poetry, dance, stage movement, pantomime) and culminates with the staging of the performance. The project also provides for a theatre literacy workshop for children on the theme of theatre play (Teatro dei piccoli), held by university lecturers. The expressive, dynamic and engaging environment, centred on the basic elements of theatre-making (body, voice, emotions), enables creativity to be cultivated by experimenting with games, expressive paths and dramatisation.
The theatre regains its social function of social glue, seeking to deepen the spectator's curiosity along paths of individual and collective growth, helping to create a cultured and cohesive community. Along with acting training, the project brings the audience closer to the creative process that starts with the analysis of literature and reaches all the way to the stage.
The project provides for open rehearsals and follow-up meetings with artists, performers, practitioners and critics are planned. The meetings stimulate reflection and discussion on issues related to the text, dramaturgy, the role of actor/director and the entire theatrical world. In particular, the Study Day "The Use of the Body in the Theatre" addresses issues related to the relationship between the body, multimedia arts and digital technologies, given that the transition from old to new media is a central element of all forms of representation.

LCU Activities:

  • Production and staging of the performance
  • Theatre workshop (Inferno Lab, Teatro dei piccoli);
  • Meetings and study days.

Funds:
The project is co-financed with funds allocated by Roma Capitale Avviso pubblico “Estate Romana 2019”.

Description:
The project aims to help create the right conditions for the acquisition of skills in compulsory schooling. The guiding thread is the need to provide children with the abilities required to raise awareness on active participation in society. To this end, the project aims to achieve the following competences:
Learning to learn: the subjects are able to organize their own learning pathway, identifying, choosing and using various sources and means of information and training (formal, non-formal and informal), also according to the time available, their own strategies and their own method of study and work.
Communicating and understanding messages of different kinds. Collaborating and participating in group interaction. Acting autonomously and responsibly. Problem solving: dealing with problematic situations by constructing and testing hypotheses. Identifying connections and relationships. Acquiring and interpreting information.

LCU Activities:
The first phase includes training for teachers, required to establish the OECD-PISA-INVALSI TRAINING PLATFORM and to modulate and choose the teaching tools and materials to be used within the project activities. Once teachers have become aware of the objectives to be achieved and the tools that will be made available to them, they will move on to the CO-DESIGN phase.
This phase will use the data gathered from the analysis of the tests and any other material made available by the schools, along with the tools and teaching materials provided by LCU. The DIDACTIC phase will provide for classes with a maximum of 20 students, and in case of students with special needs, additional modules and specialised support staff will be granted. Once the co-design and planning phase is closed, the training of pupils will begin. The last phase will provide for laboratory training (LABORATORY PHASE) of at least 10 hours, to be carried out at the individual school sites, which will be functional to the simulation of the OECD-PISA-INVALSI tests. Parallel to these four phases, the tutoring phase, considered transversal to all the project phases, will be fundamental, in order to provide continuous support and to settle any criticalities as they arise during the course.
