Purposes
The Academic Master in “Direction and Management of Complex Healthcare Organizations” was created with the aim of training leaders capable of managing complex, sustainable, digital healthcare systems focused on global health, through an integrated approach that combines managerial, organizational, economic, technological, and public health expertise.
In an ever-changing healthcare landscape characterized by epidemiological transition, technological innovation, digital transformation, a crisis in the sustainability of healthcare systems, and growing organizational complexity, this Master provides advanced tools for interpreting changes in the sector and developing effective strategies for the management, planning, and governance of complex healthcare facilities.
The training programme is designed to promote management models focused on continuous improvement, quality, patient safety, organizational efficiency, and the creation of value for patients, healthcare professionals, and the community.
The aim is to implement an integrated, multidimensional, and multidisciplinary approach—a multiprofessional team—which is essential for prevention and includes early diagnosis, initial and ongoing assessment, and treatment.
Target Students and Admission Requirements
The Master is aimed at professionals who wish to explore the most innovative topics in the field and aspire to hold leadership positions in the social and healthcare sector.
In particular:
- Executives and heads of clinical units, departments, and districts.
- Coordinators of healthcare professions aspiring to leadership roles.
- Professionals working in hospitals, local health authorities, private clinics, and long-term care facilities who are interested in governance.
This is a II Level Academic Master. Admission requires a Master’s Degree, a specialized degree, or a degree under the old system (or an equivalent qualification). Eligible degrees include:
- Medicine and Surgery
- Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics
- Veterinary Medicine
- Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology
- Biology and Biotechnology
- Chemistry and Physics
- Psychology
- Nursing and Midwifery (Master’s Degree)
- Other equivalent master’s degrees that qualify graduates for leadership or administrative roles in the healthcare sector.
Learning Objectives
The Master trains professionals able to:
- Perform management, planning, and oversight functions within a complex organization.
- Interpret changes in the external environment and adapt business strategies.
- Identify opportunities to reduce clinical and administrative errors.
- Use operational tools to bridge the gap between planning and action.
- Integrate safety policies for patients and staff.
- Lead the reengineering of care and administrative processes.
- Promote continuous quality improvement (CQI) in healthcare organizations.
Teaching
The Master, established pursuant to Ministerial Decree 270/2004, lasts 12 months and requires a total of 1500 hours, divided as follows:
- Synchronous lessons in a virtual classroom and in-person: to interact directly with instructors according to a scheduled calendar.
- Asynchronous lessons
- Independent study and research activities: to independently explore and reinforce the content learned in the Master.
- Exercises and mid-term assessments: to evaluate learning progress and form part of the assessment process.
- Project work: to actively apply the content learned during the Master.
Master Qualification
The final exam consists of the preparation and presentation of a project based on a real-world case study, to be presented in person before an examination board. Upon passing the exam, the candidate will attain the Master Qualification.
Tuition
The annual tuition for registration to the Master is € 4.900,00.
