Purposes
The Master aims to provide students with the specific skills needed to work in the fields of diplomacy, international relations, and multilateral organizations, within a global context marked by growing instability, the fragmentation of the balance of power, and the redefinition of geopolitical structures.
For this purpose, the master includes an initial module focused on international, European, and diplomatic law, which provides the essential legal tools for understanding how relations between states, international organizations, and mechanisms for the protection of rights function within an increasingly interconnected global system.
A second module addresses international economic and trade dynamics, providing expertise in political economy, finance, and economic diplomacy—all of which are necessary for understanding the increasingly close link between economic power and political power.
The third module, the core of the program, is dedicated to international relations, contemporary geopolitics, and diplomatic history, with the aim of providing an in-depth and up-to-date analysis of global scenarios and regional integration processes, supported by analytical tools from the political and social sciences.
A fourth is devoted to international security, intelligence, and digital innovation—areas that are playing an increasingly central role in crisis management and the formulation of contemporary diplomatic strategies.
Finally, the Master devotes particular attention to diplomatic practice through a specific module on the Italian diplomatic system, the MAECI, and international cooperation, supplemented by professional workshops—simulations of international organizations, negotiation techniques, drafting of policy papers, and public speaking—and a track dedicated to preparing for the diplomatic service admission exam.
In fact, practical experience is the defining feature of this Master: this course aims to provide a combination of practical and theoretical expertise, grounded in the development of a network of professional relationships made possible through the involvement of top-tier professionals.
