The aim of the Bachelor's Degree Course DAMS – Audiovisual and theatrical production is to train creative professional figures in the world of performing arts, cinema, theatre and audiovisual production. The course is aimed at students who want to acquire solid theoretical practical skills required  to operate in a national and international context, with particular focus on the cultural and technological transformations that are re-shaping the sector.

The educational offer, established in direct dialogue with the cultural industries and the Academic research centres,  merges humanistic knowledge and technical-creative workshops from the very first year, guaranteeing a comprehensive, up-to-date and spendable preparation for the world of work.

The course is articulated into a single course of study - Audiovisual and Theatre Production, which allows for the construction of a flexible and versatile professional profile. The structure is designed to accompany students throughout an integrated pathway between theory and practice, with a strong emphasis on laboratory experience.

The hands-on nature of the program is reflected, year after year, in the creation of original works — both audiovisual and performative — that complement and document the skills acquired. The program culminates at the end of the third year in two final productions: a live theater performance and a video work, which serve as true professional tests of the theoretical, technical, and creative knowledge gained over the three-year period. 

In addition to the standard curriculum, the Degree Course offers an excellence learning pathway in Cross-Media Production and the Economics of Live Performance, reserved for the most deserving students: an advanced academic track, beginning in the second year, dedicated to multimedia and digital languages applied to the contemporary performing arts—from video projection and mapping for immersive environments to lighting and sound design, from multimedia set design to a specific in-depth study of generative artificial intelligence applied to creativity and visual production. MODALITY OF FRUITION

The course provides for non-compulsory attendance of lessons. Furthermore, in order to meet the diverse needs of students, the lessons are video-recorded and made available on digital platforms in asynchronous mode. This additional opportunity allows students to organize their study and revision times independently. Theoretical teaching is complemented by practical and professionalizing activities: workshops, internships and visits to companies, public bodies and institutions in the area. These field experiences make it possible to develop concrete operational skills and to come into direct contact with the world of work already during the course of study.

 

INTERNSHIPS STARTING IN THE FIRST YEAR AT FILM, MUSIC, AND THEATER FESTIVALS

A distinctive feature of the program is that internships begins as early as the first year: a formative experience that accompanies students throughout the entire three-year program and brings them into direct contact with the places where culture is born and comes to life—film, music, and theater festivals. From the very first weeks, the program moves beyond the classroom and engages with the practical realities of live performance and audiovisual production. The internship is organized into modules, creating a progressive and flexible learning pathway. Each module corresponds to a hands-on experience within a festival or a cultural institution partnering with the University and integrates organizational, production, and creative skills with theoretical and workshop-based training. The modular structure allows students to explore, over the course of three years, multiple fields—film, music, and theater—by participating in diverse experiences and developing practical, cross-disciplinary knowledge of the various sectors of the performing arts. Students can thus build a profile tailored to their interests by experimenting with the many professions in the performing arts and media: from organizing a film festival to producing a live performance, from managing a music event to cultural communication. Starting an internship as early as the first year allows students to build, year after year, a network of professional connections and a wealth of practical skills that make the program immediately applicable to the labour market.

Theatre Maker – Live Performance Professional

Il percorso forma un performer moderno, capace non solo di eseguire, ma di ideare e sviluppare in autonomia progetti artistici per il teatro e lo spettacolo dal vivo. Una figura attiva nella scrittura, messa in scena, regia, ma anche nella promozione e gestione culturale.

This learning pathway trains modern performers who are capable not only of performing but also of independently conceiving and developing artistic projects for theater and live performance. These professionals are active in writing, staging, and directing, as well as in promotion and cultural management.

The skills developed include:

• Contemporary dramaturgy and playwriting
• Theatrical direction and stage management
• Planning of performance events
• Management and promotion of live performance
• Creation of multimedia content for the theater

The theater maker can work in theater companies, cultural centers, arts organizations, festivals, and local public agencies, as well as on educational projects, hybrid multimedia productions, and in the communication of cultural events.

This profile combines the interdisciplinary training provided by the program with an understanding of cultural dynamics and media languages, producing professionals capable of presenting, highlighting, and promoting artistic projects and cultural institutions through both traditional and digital tools.

Professional Production

The course features two in-house University productions — a theatrical production and an audiovisual and podcast production — that offer students the opportunity to engage with the entire creative process in a professional setting. Activities take place in two dedicated, fully equipped studios: rehearsal rooms for live performances and equipment for podcast recording, a digital archive, and spaces for video shooting and post-production. These are environments where learning translates into hands-on practice, supported by professional-grade technical equipment.

Research and Higher Education

At Link Campus University, research is not confined to scientific laboratories but is fully integrated into daily teaching and becomes an integral part of the educational experience. Students work alongside the university’s research groups and participate in a packed schedule of conferences, study days, workshops, and masterclasses—over 12 conferences, 20 workshops, and more than 30 artists and guests each year—that bring the most authoritative voices in contemporary cinema, theater, and audiovisual arts into the classroom. As further evidence of this interconnection between research, education, and the local community, this year the Lazio Region has funded ACTOR 2.0, a project developed as part of the “Spettacolo dal Vivo” call for proposals to promote young people’s access to live performance in collaboration with educational institutions — which introduces students to careers in contemporary theater and audiovisual arts through five intensive workshops led by nationally renowned artists and a series of performances at the Teatro Vascello.
